Cozy cafe with a warm atmosphere. French toast and red bean toast were delicious! Elderly couple were warm and friendly and gave us some free fruits. Would recommend for breakfast as there was no crowd when we visited on a Sunday morning. Limited seating as there are only 3 tables and some counter seats.

Rinrin @ Takayama – A cozy, authentic Japanese café run by the sweetest old couple who are incredibly warm and friendly. I tried the French toast, cheese toast, club sandwiches, and even a bowl of ramen—and every single dish was spot on. The bread is soft, fluffy, and packed with flavor, easily the best toast in town. A hidden gem where everything is made with care—absolutely perfect! 2 - Below Average: Needs improvement in multiple areas, not meeting expectations. 3 - Standard, Average: Meets basic expectations, nothing exceptional but acceptable. 4 - Standard, Above Average: Exceeds expectations slightly, better than the norm. 5 - Special & Unique: Outstanding experience, highly memorable and exceptional.

Best spot in Takayama! Ran by the cutest older couple who make you feel like you’re at grandma and grandpa’s house for breakfast! Great syphon coffee, pancakes and amazing French toast and cheese toast. The tunes in the old school radio are perfect, and you get to enjoy a homey, calm atmosphere for an hour. Couldn’t recommend more! But if you come here please be respectful and kind because they work hard and don’t need disrespectful foreigners coming to ruin everything. Be kind, use manners and enjoy!

If you want to feel like you’re a kid again and being taken care of by your grandparents, this is the breakfast spot for you. It’s cozy and gentle with manga to read and filled with nostalgia. They had the fluffiest pancakes and French toast of our entire trip! The elderly couple was super friendly!

If ever in Takayama, this is a great place to experience the charm and kindness of local Japanese people. Their French toast is delicious and you’ll see they make coffee using traditional methods. 5/5!
